Bassist Aaron Bellamy will perform with Addison Groove Project this weekend. As previously reported, the onetime Jambands.com New Groove of the Month will reunite for a show at Boston’s Paradise this Saturday, September 15. Wyllys will open the event and come out of lighting retirement to run the boards with the group during their show.

Bellamy is an old friend of the AGP family. He is best known for his work with Sam Kininger Band and Alan Evans’ PlayonBrother Band. Founding AGP bassist John Hall passed away after a battle with cancer in November 2004 at the age of 25. While Hall was sick and after his untimely passing AGP’s Rob Marscher covered his basslines on keys.

“When John got sick, I took on bass duties with my left hand,” Marscher recently told Jambands.com. And although I’m a lefty and there are a lot of advantages to having just a trio for the rhythm section, it was supposed to be a temporary thing. Certain songs were just not as full if I couldn’t play two different keyboard parts because one hand was playing the bass. Aaron is an old friend from the Sam Kininger Band and is from right near where we all grew up, so he’s part of the clan. I think his playing really honors our memory of John, and we’re super excited to have him.”

Bellamy will play on select songs during the night. For more on AGP’s reunion, be sure to read our recent site interview.
