Mike Doughty has announced plans to take on artists such as Cheap Trick and John Denver for his newest release, an album of covers titled The Flip is Another Honey. The former Soul Coughing frontman is well known for including choice covers throughout his solo discography, including Mary J. Blige and Neutral Milk Hotel, but this will be Doughty’s first covers-only album. “Take Me Home Country Roads,” the famous John Denver number and Doughty’s “first favorite song,” will be the lead single off the album and is set for release on October 8. The album was produced and mixed by Kevin Salem (Emmylou Harris) and features longtime collaborators “Cashmere” Dan Chen and Scrap Livingston on select numbers.
