Amy Helm and Railroad Earth Celebrate Woody Guthrie

On Saturday night, Railroad Earth headlined a show at New Brunswick, NJ’s State Theatre. Amy Helm opened the show and joined the Americana/jam group at the end of the night for a cover of “Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key.” Woody Guthrie penned the song’s lyrics and, years later, Billy Bragg set the tune to new music for his Mermaid Avenue collaboration with Wilco. Helm will pay tribute to her father at this evening’s Love for Levon benefit at East Rutherford, NJ’s Izod Center.

It’s probably worth noting as well that Natalie Merchant sang with Bragg on the Mermaid Ave. version, but this version w/RRE & Amy Helm is fantastic too! Thanks for sharing.
