Kermit Ruffins
will celebrate the 15th anniversary of his signing with New Orleans’ Basin Street Records on November 16. Ruffins signed the record label’s first contract on October 22, 1997, 15 years ago today. A few weeks later he recorded The Barbecue Swingers Live in front of a packed house at the iconic Tipitina’s. Ruffins will return to the scene of that first recording to celebrate fifteen years and dozens of projects with Basin Street Records. Since first working Ruffins, Basin Street Records have signed numerous artists and released nearly 50 projects, including the 2012 Grammy winning album Rebirth of New Orleans by the Rebirth Brass Band.
