Umphrey’s McGee celebrated Halloween a few nights early at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, WI last night. Like Umphrey’s McGee’s recent Halloween shows, the second Halloween-themed “Milwaukee’s Beast” concert found the band prepping their setlist with a series of unique song mashups.

Umphrey’s McGee debuted three new mashups during the show, including “Life During Exodus,” a combination of The Talking Heads’ “Life During Wartime,” Bob Marley’s “Exodus” and Frank Zappa’s “City of Tine Lites,” with Charlie Otto of This Must Be The Band on vocals. The band also debuted “Ace of Long Nights,” a mashup of Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” and Ween’s “It’s Gonna Be A Long Night,” as well as “Frankie Zombie,” a mashup of White Zombie’s “Thunder Kiss ’65,” Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax” and Pink Floyd’s “Have A Cigar.” Umphrey’s McGee also teased Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” during “Prowler.” ZZ Top’s “Cheap Sunglasses” and “La Grange” were each teased before “Loose Ends” and “Ace of Long Nights,” respectively.

While mashups are an integral part of any Umphrey’s McGee Halloween shows, the experience would not be complete without the band’s eclectic costume mashups. This year was no different. Guitarist Brendan Bayliss took the stage as “Jay ZZ Top,” keyboardist Joel Cummins dressed as “Nacho Liberace” and guitarist Jake Cinninger played “Johnny Cassius Clay.” Percussionist Andy Farag was transformed into “Ludachrist,” while drummer Kris Myers became “Elton John McEnroe” and bassist Ryan Stasik fashioned himself as “Salvador Dali Parton.”

As previously reported, Umphrey’s McGee’s October 31, “All Night Wrong” show will be broadcast live on AXS TV. The band will play a fan curated, covers-heavy set list.
