Chris Robinson Brotherhood celebrated Halloween last night at Athens, GA’s Georgia Theatre. The group kicked things off with a special Halloween-themed covers set that included takes on KC and the Sunshine Band’s “I’m Your Boogie Man,” Flamin’ Groovies’ “Teenage Head,” The Cramps’ “Human Fly,” Donovan’s “Season of the Witch,” The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy For The Devil,” Bobby “Boris” Pickett’s “Monster Mash” and The Misfits’ “Halloween.” Robinson handled lead vocals on “I’m Your Boogie Man,” “Teenage Head” and “Halloween,” while keyboardist Adam MacDougall sang lead on “I’m Your Boogie Man,” drummer George Sluppick offered “Monster Mash,” bassist Mark “Muddy” Dutton tackled “Human Sly” and Neal Casal took lead on “Sympathy For the Devil.” Every song was a debut, and the entire group dressed as glitter-painted druids during the set.
The ensemble then featured for another set of original material and choice covers, including a memorable take on the Grateful Dead’s “West LA Fadeaway.”
