Jim James has confirmed some additional information about his first solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God. The My Morning Jacket leader will release the project on February 5 via his longtime label ATO. As previously reported, James recorded the album almost entirely on is own, playing most of the instruments on the album and engineering the project. The press release points out that the album was inspired by Lynd Ward’s 1929 graphic novel God’s Man.

“ God’s Man came to me at a very important time,” he says. “Some of the things happening in the book were happening to me in real life, in a very strange and painful, then a very beautiful way.”

Regions of Light and Sound of God is available in several different formats on James’ redesigned website. Visitors can also download the song “Know Til Now” for free.
