Jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan joined Phil Lesh & Friends at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City last night. Jordan, who played one set with Phil Lesh & Friends the previous night during a special three-set show, joined the band for the entire evening Monday. The show saw an entire first set comprised of Garcia/Hunter tunes including “Friend of the Devil,” “Deal” and “Sugaree,” while the second set included an instrumental cover of The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby” as well as a rendition of the Reverend Gary Davis’ “Death Don’t Have No Mercy” which was a staple of the Dead’s early repertoire. Last night’s show ended with an encore of “St. Stephen “ seguing into The Rolling Stones classic “Satisfaction.” Phil Lesh & Friends will play another show at the Roseland Ballroom tonight before doing a four night run at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY from November 15-18.
