The Flaming Lips‘ Wayne Coyne accidentally brought Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers Airport to a halt when he inadvertently left a hand grenade in the carry-on bag he brought through security last week. The grenade, which turned out to be dead, triggered an alarm at the TSA checkpoint and forced a shutdown of the terminal. The TSA went into a bit of a panic because they didn’t have any bomb disposal crews on hand, but Coyne was eventually released once it was determined that the grenade was harmless. The incident took place on November 10, and numerous flights were delayed because of it.

Coyne was on his way to Los Angeles for a preview of the Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots stage musical. The Flaming Lips frontman tweeted about the bomb scare saying, “Sorry Sorry Sorry!! Everyone that was inconvenienced because of my grenade at OKC airport!!” As previously reported, Coyne will star in a special radio program, Wayne Coyne’s Human Head-Shaped Tumor, this weekend.
