The Original Strangefolk lineup returned to Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre last night. One of a handful of shows the band’s recently reunited classic lineup has played in 2012, last night’s show had special significance: Strangefolk was one of the last groups to play the Cap before it stopped hosting music in 1998, and the venue’s proprietor Peter Shapiro pushed the band to reunite as part of the club’s reopening celebration.

Last night, moe.‘s Al Schnier opened the night with a solo set. At the end of his show, Schnier invited Strangefolk bassist Erik Glockler out for “Everything Here” and then, all four members of Strangrfolk to help him on a cover of the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter classic “Deal.” Later in the evening, he also joined Strangefolk onstage for a take on his own band’s “Moth” as well as Strangefolk’s “Lines and Circles.” The members of Strangefolk have played moe.‘s music before: In the ’90s, moe. and Strangefolk occasionally played collaborative sets as the moe.ther Folkers. Strangefolk and Schnier will both return to the Cap this evening.
