Jonah Smith’s NYC Farewell

After 12 years living in Brooklyn and recording in New York for 12 years, singer/keyboardist and onetime Relix recording artist Jonah Smith is relocating to Los Angeles at the end of the year. Smith will play his final show as a New York resident at New York’s Joe’s Pub on Thursday, November 29. The band for his farewell show will include Gintas J. on drums, Ben Rubin on bass and Andy Stack on guitar.

The Relix/Jambands.com team first heard about Smith when he entered and won our first Jam_Off competition. He has since gone to to perform with the likes of Bill Frisell, Garth Hudson, Little Feat, Blues Traveler and many others. He is also a member of The Statesmen, featuring Josh Dion, Scott Metzger and Ben Rubin.

Is this newsworthy?

Only because he was at some point tied to Relix. Which is the parent to jambands.com?

I look foward to reading about all musicians relocations (tied to relix). Hopefully this move by Jonah starts a new trend in Brooklyn. Now that would be good news.

Instead of quickly dismissing an artist you’ve never heard of, why don’t you take a deep breath and think for a few moments…This website and Relix are all about bringing good music to the people who appreciate it.If you’ve never heard Jonah’s music well then today is your lucky freakin day! You obviously have internet access, you should check him out. He’s the man. Thanks guys for covering him all these years. NYC will miss you Jonah! Don’t be a stranger.
