Meters bassist George Porter Jr. has confirmed the lineup for his annual birthday bash. The bassist will celebrate his 65th birthday with a three-set show at New Orleans’ Howlin Wolf on December 26. As expected Porter will perform during all three sets.

The evening’s first set will transport Porter’s weekly Trio shows to the Howlin Wolf, pairing the bassist with trumpeter/keyboardist Nicholas Payton and drummer Johnny Vidacovich. For his second set, Porter will explore the Grateful Dead songs he’s mastered for 7 Walkers with the help of that group’s frontman Papa Mali as well as guitarist Billy Iuso and drummer Eddie Christmas. Then, Porter will close the night with his Runnin Pardners project. Special guests are expected.
