Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe have expanded their East Coast Beastie Boys tribute. As previously reported, the group will play the music of the Beastie Boys and more at Boston’s Royale on November 30 and New York’s Best Buy Theater on December 1. The funk outfit will now also pay tribute to the Beasties at Silver Spring, MD’s The Fillmore on December 13 as well as Philadelphia’s Union Transfer on December 14. Slightly Stoopid’s Kyle McDonald, DeLa and OG will collaborate with the Tiny Universe on all four nights. The Alan Evans Trio will also open Denson’s Boston and New York shows.

Denson considered covering the Beastie Boys on Halloween in 2011 but opted to play the music from The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers instead. He revived the concept for a few West Coast shows and expanded the tribute’s scope after MCA’s death.

This isn’t new. I’ve had tickets to the Silver Spring show for three weeks.

Just saw KDTU and friends in Solana Beach, CA. AMAZING show!! DJ Williams was pretty good, but still doesnt hold a candle to Brian Jordan.
