A Weekend of New Orleans in San Francisco

Tea Leaf Green bassist and New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts will back veteran New Orleans drummer Johnny Vidacovich this weekend. The San Francisco-based Mathis and Roberts will perform with Johnny Vidacovich Trio at San Francisco, CA’s Brick and Mortar Music Hall tonight (11/30) and tomorrow (12/1). The shows are part of a New Orleans-themed weekend at the venue that includes a headlining set from New Orleans Suspects and food by Jacques-Imo’s.

The New Orleans Suspects is a super group featuring Neville Brothers drummer “Mean” Willie Green, Radiators bassist Reggie Scanlan, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band guitarist Jake Eckert, Outformation keyboardist CR Gruver and James Brown saxophonist Jeff Watkins. The club’s New Orleans celebration kicked off last night.

I like the implication hat Eddie Roberts plays guitar in a British funk band and bass in a American funk/pop band. Regardless, see this show!. Johnny V. is the man and the suspects are tight as all hell!
