Kim Gordon and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Frank Black of the Pixies, Johnny Marr of the Smiths, Kurt Vile and more joined Dinosaur Jr. on stage Saturday night at Terminal 5 in New York City. The guest appearances came during a special concert in honor of the 25th anniversary of Dinosaur Jr.‘s second album, You Are Living All Over Me. The band started off their show by playing the iconic record from start to finish, with Ranaldo joining them on the opening track “Litte Fury Things.”

The sit ins really got going during the second set, which kicked off with Frank Black joining the band for “Almost Fare” from the 2012 release I Bet on Sky. He also stuck around for a rendition of the Pixies’ “Tame.” Next, Dinosaur Jr. welcomed Kurt Vile, Kyle Spence and Al Cisneros on stage to help with their song “Alone.” A bit later, Johnny Marr, Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew and The Melvins’ Dale Crover came out for the the 1990 tune “The Wagon,” as well as a cover of The Smiths’ “The Boy With The Thorn In His Side.” The set ended with The Velvet Monkeys’ Don Fleming sitting in for a take on the Iron Cross song “Crucified” before Kim Gordon took the stage for “Don’t,” a track off Dinosaur Jr.‘s 1988 album Bug.

After a stellar second set complete with a slew of covers and guest appearances, fans were treated to a three song encore that began with a rendition of The Stooges’ “T.V. Eye” featuring former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson, as well as Portlandia star (and former Trenchmouth/Blue Man Group drummer) Fred Armisen. Armisen then made his exit as Kevin Drew returned to the stage to help end the concert with the Dinosaur Jr. classics “Start Choppin” and “Freak Scene.” A full list of songs and sit ins from Saturday’s show can be viewed below.
