Colorado newgrass quartet Head for the Hills have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for their third studio album Blue Ruin. The band has already started working on the new record, but they still need $20,000 to help with the recording/mixing/mastering process, the album’s artwork, vinyl/CD manufacturing and publicity. The group is offering a variety of creative incentives to those who pledge donations, such as custom artwork, limited edition vinyls, professionally guided fishing trips, exclusive events and more. The fundraiser is currently underway and will run until December 8. (As is the case with all Kickstarter campaigns, if Head for the Hills does not reach their goal then they will not receive any of the money and none of the pledgees will be charged.) You can check out the feature article on Head for the Hills from the June 2011 issue of Relix here. The band’s Kickstarer campaign video can be viewed above. Head for the Hills will ring in the New Year at the Warren Station Center for the Arts in Keystone, CO on December 31. You can purchase tickets to the event here.
