Bluegrass legend Peter Rowan is currently in the studio working on his upcoming Compass Records release, The Old School. For his new project, Rowan has recruited a multi-generational mix of guests, including Bobby Osborne, Jesse McReynolds, Bryan Sutton, the Traveling McCourys, Michael Cleveland, Infamous Stringdusters’ Jeremy Garrett, Chris Henry and the members of the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band. Producer Alison Brown is back at the helm, and Rowan promises a set of 11 new songs, including a reworking of “Freedom Riders,” the Civil Rights anthem made popular by Odetta.

Rowan will be back in the studio in January to finish recording and mixing. The album is slated for release in spring 2013.
