Noted scene tenor saxophonist Peter Apfelbaum will debut a new project at New York’s Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 this evening. Known as Sparkler, the project will feature Apfelbaum, Trey Anastasio Band’s Natalie Cressman, Will Bernard, Barney McAll, Willard Dyson and Jill Ryan. Apfelbaum’s classic The Hieroglyphics Ensemble opened for the Grateful Dead, and Apfelbaum was a member of the Phish horn section The Cosmic Country Horns. In addition to his own The New York Hieroglyphics, he was also a member of the classic Trey Anastasio Band and Jazz Mandolin Project.
