The Funky Meters and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk to Share the Stage on New Year’s Eve

The Funky Meters will headline the first New Year’s Eve show since Relix publisher Peter Shapiro took over Port Chester, NY’s recently renovated Capitol Theatre. Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk will open the night. Dumpstaphunk guitarist Ian Neville is the son of Funky Meters singer/keyboardist Art Neville (and a former member of the group himself). As previously reported, Funky Meters bassist George Porter Jr. will perform with the other members of The Original Meters in San Francisco earlier in the week.

Ivan is the son of Aaron Neville. Art is his uncle.

They are talking about two different guys: Ian Neville, who is Art & Lorraine’s son; and Ivan, who is Aaron’s son. I
During college in NOLA in the 90’s I used to babysit Ian and many other younger Nevilles…a great job, as you can imagine :)
So happy to see Dumpstaphunk hitting it hard and having some success —Ivan’s worked his tail off. Good Evening y’all,
