Bill Graham and Ester Chichinsky at a Fort Mason Holiday Fair in San Francisco in 1982.

Ester Chichinsky, the sister and last surviving sibling of the late concert promoter Bill Graham, passed away on November 26 at the age of 86. Chichinsky was a familiar face at many of Graham’s events. During the Grateful Dead’s final run at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom in 1978, she could be found all week running a “soup kitchen” for the Deadheads who were camped out there. Chichinsky was one of only two of Graham’s five sisters to survive the Holocaust, eventually reuniting with her brother in the U.S. She remained close to Graham until his 1991 death in helicopter crash. She is survived by her son, Steve, and her husband Manny.
