Two British Rock veterans will partner with grunge survivors at this evening’s 12-12-12 concert. As previously reported, the Superstorm Sandy relief benefit will take place at New York’s Madison Square Garden, featuring Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Roger Waters, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Who, Kanye West, Eddie Vedder, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

In an interview on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon that has since been re-posted on Rolling Stone, Waters revealed that Vedder will join him for the classic Pink Floyd song “Comfortably Numb.”
He also mentions that his set will feature a mix of material from Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.

According to an interview in The Sun, McCartney will also perform with alternative rock icons. The Beatle will play a few songs with surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic as well as touring Nirvana member—and current Foo Fighter—Pat Smear. In an interview McCartney admits, “I didn’t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time? And somebody whispered to me ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.” The musicians are expected to perform new material instead of classic Nirvana songs.
