On Saturday night, Steve Kimock played a two-set show at Woodstock, NY’s Bearsville Theater. Kimock opened the evening with a solo segment, before bringing out his current ensemble for another set of music. Kimock’s current group is an all-star band that features P-Funk/Talking Heads keyboardist Bernie Worrell, bassist Andy Hess and drummer Wally Ingram. At the end of the night, Gov’t Mule keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Danny Louis—who lives in the area—emerged to play trumpet on The Wailers’ “Get Up Stand Up” and Al Green’s “Take Me to the River.” The latter song is an important part of Worrell’s catalog thanks to his days covering the tune with Talking Heads. The sit in also doubled as a reunion for Louis and Hess, who played together in Gov’t Mule for years.

Kimock’s band will kick of their 2013 tour at Fall River, MA’s Narrows Center For The Arts on February 20.
