Marc Ribot and MMW Take on Elvis and Hendrix

Medeski, Martin and Wood were joined by guitarist Marc Ribot during the third night of their residency at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City last night. In an interesting move, the group ended the second show of the evening with a string of three covers: Mark James’ “Suspicious Minds,” a song long associated with Elvis Presley, Larry Young’s “Heaven and Earth” and the Jimi Hendrix Experience version of “Hey Joe.” As previously reported, MMW will be joined by saxophonist Bill Evans tonight, while multi-instrumentalist Marty Ehrlich will sit in with them tomorrow. Sunday night’s performances will be pure MMW. Reservations for the shows can be made here.

The Ribot sets gotta be up there for best shows of 2012. Unreal. The perfect guest guitarist for that band.
