Radiohead’s management has been forced to deny rumors that guitarist Jonny Greenwood is hiding in Brazil as he waits for the impending Mayan apocalypse. The denial came after various Brazilian media outlets reported that Greenwood was staying at a rural hotel near the city of Sao Luiz do Paraitinga in anticipation of the end of the world, which some people believe will take place on December 21. The city’s Tourism Minister told the Folha de Sao Paolo news website that Greenwood had arrived earlier this month and that other members of Radiohead were planning on joining him in the next few days. Courtyard Management, who manage Radiohead, have denied that the guitarist is even in Brazil.

The story seems highly unlikely given that Greenwood has been in Sydney, Australia working with the Australian Chamber Orchestra for the past few weeks. He even wrote a blog post on Radiohead’s Dead Air Space website today in which he states that he is still working with the group. As previously reported, Greenwood sat in with the ACO Underground—a side project of the Australian Chamber Orchestra—a few weeks ago. You can read the Folha de Sao Paolo article claiming Greenwood is in Brazil (assuming you understand Brazilian Portuguese) here.
