John Cale will curate “Life Along the Borderline: A Tribute to Nico” at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on January 16. The founding Velvet Underground member will be joined by The Magnetic Fields, Yeasayer, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Peaches, Queens of the Stone Age’s Mark Lanegan, Sharon Van Etten, Meshell Ndegeocello, Joan as Police Woman and Lemon Jelly’s Nick Franglen.

Cale worked with Nico—the legendary singer/songwriter and Any Warhol protégé—while recording the iconic album The Velvet Underground & Nico in 1966. Cale also produced a number of Nico’s solo albums including Desertshore and The End… The event will begin at 8pm and will take place at BAM’s Howard Gillman Opera House. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here. You can check out the feature on John Cale from the September 2012 issue of Relix here.
