Macy Gray to Perform with David Murray for Three Nights

Macy Gray will join jazz virtuoso David Murray and his Big Band for a three-night run at the Iridium in New York City January 11-13. Murray—a jazz favorite of Deadheads thanks to his sit-ins with the band in the ’90s and his Dark Star album of Dead covers—composed a number of new arrangements of Gray’s hits, as well a some new original tunes specifically for the shows. Gray collaborated with the saxophonist and his 16-piece band earlier this year at Paris’ Azz a la Villete, the London Jazz Festival and the Netherlands’ North Sea Jazz Festival. She also also joined him in the studio to contribute vocals to his new song “Be My Monster Love,” which will appear on Murray’s new album of the same name and will be performed by his Big Band at the Iridium. Tickets to the events are $45-$60 and can be purchased here.
