The String Cheese Incident brought out a number of hits during the first show of their three night New Year’s Eve run yesterday at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, CO. The band got started with a low key first set that included their classics “Round the Wheel,” “Born on the Wrong Planet” and “Close Your Eyes,” as well as the latin jam “Yo Se.” Things really picked up during the second set, which kicked off with an unfinished “Rollover” that segued into “On The Road.” The latter half of the set got going with another classic, “Jellyfish,” which played into the womped out cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” that the band debuted at Electric Forest in 2011. “Sirens” segued into the end of “Rollover” to close the set. While the show itself was filled with hits, the band saved a real rarity for the encore, with drummer Michael Travis picking up a guitar and singing on SCI’s first “Time Alive” since April 20, 2004. As previously reported, the String Cheese Incident will play two more New Year’s Eve shows at the 1st Bank Center tonight and tomorrow.
