The String Cheese Incident rang in the New Year with a massive balloon drop at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, CO last night. The band also gave all of their fans light up “Xyloband” wristbands that changed colors throughout the show, adding a totally new element to the light show, which was also accentuated by some signature Cheesy theatrics.

The first set kicked off with “Mouna Bowa” and also included a cover of New Grass Revival’s “Can’t Stop Now,” as well as the new tune “Stuggling Angel.” Set two featured a cover of Keller Williams’ “Best Feeling” that segued into “Search,” followed by a rendition of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” that led into“Rosie.” The third set featured an unfinished “Colorado Bluebird Sky” which segued into “Bumpin’ Reel,” as well as a cover of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion” sandwiched between “Desert Dawn.” The show ended with an encore of “Bolly Munster” into the rest of “Colorado Bluebird Sky.”

Like many of their big events, String Cheese Incident’s New Year’s countdown—which fell during “Land’s End”—was a Burning Man-inspired affair. The band performed while acrobats twirled in the air and fans illuminated the crowd with their “Xyloband” wristbands. Guitarist Bill Nershi dressed as a wizard and a white, globe-shaped object rotated above the crowd.
