Hard-rocking bands The Hold Steady and Lucero shared a New Year’s Eve bill at Montclair, NJ’s Wellmont Theatre. Lucero played first, and The Hold Steady emerged a little before midnight. As the ball drop approached, the members of Lucero returned to the stage to join The Hold Steady for the traditional New Year’s song “Auld Lang Syne.” Then, The Hold Steady moved into “Stuck Between Stations” and a cover of AC/DC’s “Have a Drink on Me.” Unfortunately, their celebration was temporarily paused when an audience member had to be brought to the hospital during “Magazines.” After a short set break, the band’s show resumed with an appropriate take on “First Night.”
