Cover of People, Hell and Angels

Rolling Stone premiered the Jimi Hendrix tune “Somewhere” on their website today. As previously reported, the previously-unreleased song appears on the forthcoming collection of Hendrix recordings People, Hell and Angels. The legendary guitarist recorded “Somewhere” while working on his planned double-album follow-up to Electric Ladyland, First Rays of the New Rising Sun in 1968. Other versions of the song have been released in the past—on 1975’s posthumous studio album Crash Landing, for instance—but this particular recording, on which Hendrix is joined by Buddy Miles on drums and Stephen Stills on bass has not yet appeared on an official release. People, Hell and Angels will be released on March 5 and will include 11 more previously unreleased tracks from 1968 and 1969. You can pre-order the compilation here.
