Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey have announced a couple of shows in their hometown of Tulsa, OK for the next two months. The band will play Fransen’s Warehouse on January 18 and February 8. They will also visit a number of schools in town to play their “Race Riot Suite,” a composition about the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot. Tickets to the intimate Fransen’s Warehouse shows are $10.

In other JFJO news, pianist Brian Haas recently finished recording a solo album, which features drummer Matt Chamberlain, as well as the Pete Tomshany String Quartet. Hass will play shows in Lakewood, KS and Kansas City, MO on January 26 and 27, respectively. Meanwhile, lap steel guitarist and composer Chris Combs and bassist Jeff Harshberger will join 11 other musicians in Bern, Switzerland for a performance at the Jazzwerkstatt Jazz Festival under the moniker Chris Combs Large Ensemble on February 20.
