Tom Waits and photographer/film director Anton Corbijn will release their coffee table art book “Waits/Corbijn ’77-‘11” on May 8. The limited edition linen slipcase book will include more than 200 pages of Waits’ portraits taken by Corbijn over four decades, as well as 50 pages of musings and photographs by Waits himself. The book will also feature introductions written by indie-film director Jim Jarmusch and music critic Robert Christgau. Only 6,600 copies will be printed. The book can pre-ordered here for $199.99.

Anton Corbijn has photographed portraits of a variety of artists and musicians over the years, such as U2, Robert De Niro, Miles Davis and Clint Eastwood. He has also directed music videos for Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box” and Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence”, in addition to the feature films Control and The American. As previously reported, Tom Waits made a guest appearance on The Simpsons on January 6. You can read an interview with Waits from the May/June 1978 issue of Relix here.
