Gov’t Mule were once again joined by Ron Holloway and Hook Herrera on the second night of their Island Exodus in Negril, Jamaica. Holloway took the stage for a take on the Mothers of Invention’s “Trouble Every Day,” followed by a version of “Sco-Mule” that included a tease of Carlos Santana’s “Oye Como Va” and “Devil Likes It Slow” at the end of set one.

The second set was almost entirely covers, and Herrera helped kick things off with a rendition of John Lennon’s “Working Class Hero.” He then stepped off and the band continued with Toots and the Maytals’ “54/46 (Was My Number)” and The Beatles’ “Love Me Do” sandwiched between Al Green’s “I’m A Ram.” Herrera then returned for an extended jam of Albert King’s “The Hunter” into Sonny Boy Williamson’s “Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl,” which segued back into the “The Hunter” before leading into Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Long As I Can See The Light” and then once again into “Good Morning Little School Girl.” Next, Holloway joined them to close out the set with takes on Ray Charles’ “I Believe To My Soul” and Robert Johnson’s “32/20 Blues.” The show wrapped up with an encore rendition of The Beatles’ “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away” featuring Herrera. Last night’s full setlist can be viewed below, as well as in our Box Scores.
