Peter Gabriel, Billy Bragg, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Joseph Arthur and Brett Dennen contribute songs on Home Recordings, Vol. 1, the first benefit album from the non-profit The Voice Project. The release features the aforementioned artists and many more covering songs about home and peace, which were recorded over the last three years in support of music-based peace efforts in Eastern and Central Africa. The proceeds from the album will go to supporting the The Voice Project’s Amplify Peace efforts to broadcast messages of peace and reconciliation on local FM radio stations in combat zones like the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic and South Sudan. Home Recordings, Vol. 1 was released on digital download today and can be purchased here. The full tracklist, which includes covers of songs by The Beatles, Tom Waits, Ryan Adams, Peter Gabriel and more, can be viewed below. Peter Gabriel provides a more detailed explanation of the project in the video above.
