Connecticut’s Deep Banana Blackout have announced their first headlining show at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre. The funk group will perform at the recently reopened venue on March 2, 2013. Theoretically, this is the band’s makeup show for a gig that was originally scheduled for August of 1997. Deep Banana Blackout were slated to open for The Band that month but the show was cancelled after Band bassist Rick Danko was arrested in Japan. The Cap stopped hosting public shows the next year, and Deep Banana Blackout were never able to play the room.

Deep Banana Blackout recorded their live album Rowdy Duty a few blocks away at Port Chester, NY’s 7 Willow Street. Fellow Connecticut-based band Kung Fu will open Deep Banana Blackout’s Cap debut.
