In 1972, the year after Duane Allman died at age 24, Capricorn released An Anthology. Two years later the label followed up with An Anthology Volume II. In the intervening years there has not been an additional collection of the influential guitar player’s work, despite his increased renown. This will be remedied on March 12, with the release of Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective. Rolling Stone reports that the seven CD, 129 song retrospective was curated by Scott Billington and Bill Levenson and produced by Allman’s daughter Galladrielle, along with Levenson. Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective will blend his celebrated studios sessions for other artists with own his work. As Duane’s brother Gregg reveals in his autobiography, this a project that Galladrielle has been working on for some time.
