Jon Fishman joined Norah Jones’ backing band The Candles for a performance at the Long May You Run benefit concert at the Hamilton Theater on Saturday afternoon. The Phish drummer sat in on a cover of Neil Young’s “Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown,” before sticking around for a rendition of The Band’s “King Harvest (Has Surely Come)” that segued into the Grateful Dead’s “Deal.” Fishman and The Candles were later joined by other musicians from the lineup for a show-closing version of the ever appropriate Neil Young classic “Long May You Run.”

As previously reported, proceeds from the Long May You Run concert went to support the Road Runners Club of America’s runner and pedestrian safety programs. In addition to Saturday’s gig, Fishman will also be playing another show in the near future with his band Pork Tornado. The comedy-funk outfit will perform for the first time in over a decade on February 6 at the Higher Ground in South Burlington, VT.
