Tea Leaf Green bassist Reed Mathis sat in with Marco Benevento on Saturday night. Mathis—who was a staple member of Benevento’s trio for several years—sat in with Benevento and his group for a cover of Deerhoof’s “Twin Killers” at San Francisco’s Independent.

In other news, Gomez singer Ian Ball joined Benevento and his trio at Los Angeles’ The Mint on Thursday night. Ball emerged during the trio’s performance for a cover of The Beatles’ “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?” Ball and Benevento both took part in The Complete Last Waltz tribute in San Francisco this past November

Benevento and his trio will play a last minute show at San Francisco’s Boom Boom Room this evening. It will be the first time Benevento plays B3 organ with his solo band.
