Marco Benevento will headline a show at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on April 20. The 4/20 show will also feature The Mike Dillon Band and Elvis Perkins in Dearland offshoot Diamond Doves. The keyboardist has a long connection to both bands: Dillon and Benevento perform together in Garage a Trois, and Dillon is signed to Benevento’s Royal Potato Family label. Members of Diamond Doves have performed as part of Benevento’s trio and appear on his 2012 studio album TigerFace.

On Tuesday, Benevento anchored a special Mardi Gras tribute to New Orleans organist James Booker. Throughout the set, Benevento performed with drummer Johnny Vidacovich and bassist Andy Hess while guitarist Scott Metzger sat in for a portion of the evening. In a more surprising move, Benevento sang lead vocals on several songs. With the exception of some backing vocals with Surprise Me Mr. Davis, Benevento has rarely sung live during his professional career.
