The Allman Brothers Band are working on new, original songs for their annual run at New York’s Beacon Theatre, according to drummer Butch Trucks. The songs were written by Gregg Allman, who is enjoying a creative resurgence after successfully recovering from a liver transplant. The ABB haven’t debuted a new, original song since they introduced the Warren Haynes/Derek Trucks collaboration “Bag End” in 2009.

“I know that Gregg is in the best shape he’s probably been in for decades,” Trucks tells Relix and Jambands.com. “He’s finally got his liver squared away—all the medications are balanced out, he’s getting his strength back and, along with that, his motivation to write songs.”

Trucks goes on to say that Allman has been working on some new originals and will rehearse them with the band this week. Allman has stated he’s been “writing his but off” in “recent interviews.“http://www.jambands.com/news/2012/10/08/gregg-allman-i-ve-been-writing-my-butt-off-lately
