Mickey Hart Band, Black Mountain Boys to Celebrate Berkeley Venue’s 40th Anniversary

The Ashkenaz Music and Dance Community Center in Berkeley, CA will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a few Grateful Dead related shows. The Mickey Hart Band will perform at the venue on Thursday, March 7. The African Showboyz will open the evening, and the music will begin at 8:30pm. Tickets are currently on sale for $35 but will be $40 on the day of the show.

The Black Mountain Boys featuring David Nelson of New Riders of the Purple Sage will perform the following night. Wake the Dead will then play later in the evening. The Black Mountain Boys is a reunion of musicians who played bluegrass with Jerry Garcia in the pre-Dead years, and Wake the Dead is an ensemble that mixes Dead tunes and Celtic dance pieces. Tickets to that show are currently on sale for $20 and will be $25 at the door. The music will begin at 8:30pm that night as well.
