John Popper will sit in with The Allman Brothers Band tonight at the Beacon Theatre. The Blues Traveler singer and harmonica player broke the news today via his Twitter account. Popper has joined The Allman Brothers on 31 different occasions since he first sat in with the band at Jones Beach on August 31, 1990. You can watch a video of Popper and Sonny Landreth joining ABB for “One Way Out” during their 2009 Beacon Theatre run above.

Popper recently joined forces with Jake Cinninger, John Medeski and Bill Evans’ Soulgrass for a stellar rendition of Umphrey’s McGee’s “Glory” at the New York City’s Blue Note, which you can watch here.

UPDATE: It looks like Joan Osborne and the Blind Boys of Alabama will be joining the Allmans tonight as well.
