I can’t decide if this is totally lame or kinda awesome.

I’m leaning toward kinda awesome.

This is awesome! For only $40.00, you can her a perfect mix. And presumably, the volume in the headphones will be perfect too. I like to get in the front for small venues, but it is loud a bleep up front sometimes, and earplugs suck for shows IMO. Hopefully this comes east…

Are they sure they don’t want me to test this in Eugene next Friday?

drasticjasper March 9, 2013, 06:28:10

jeez it would be worth it at the fox just to not have the wooks kicking over your beer and begging to hit the joint

doesnt matter March 9, 2013, 11:27:10

i dont get it if they can do all that through ear mon. and headphones then wouldnt and shouldnt the soundboards be just as pristine and for that matter the show its self, and yet you need a ear mon. and headphones to get better than live sound at the show its self is that even possible??????help me on this one brothers and sisters

Once again Vince has a non music based way to rip the fans off. Since the band has written no good music, members have moved to other cities and overall the crowds have shrunk Vince needs to find new ways to make money besides just picking up YMSB. They will sell you the headphones next. Anything to cover for the fact that they havent written a good song since Believe the Lie or that album. Vince is a total loser.

umphreak March 9, 2013, 11:51:33

haahhahah i missed it he’s already stealing another 40 bucks from you. You are at the show listen to the board at home. Unless you are in some shitty room (yes during the week thats all the band can fill) where the sound is bad maybe it makes sense. Otherwise you are ruining the natural acoustics of the nicer venues. Vince doesnt care he’s just trying to make up for lost income with the shrinking fanbase.

So many ways to listen to the Umph! No excuses to miss a show anymore ;)

Shiner March 11, 2013, 13:48:41

Totally awesome. I think Umphreak needs to get a life and stop hating. Vince is a great guy and this wasn’t even his idea. It’s something new and cool for the real fans. I can speak from experience that listening to the show with the headphones on is amazing! And as a matter of fact, UM has been doing great, not losing fans, but gaining fans. Numbers don’t lie. Vince isn’t the loser, you are. You think they make that much money off of selling 16 spots at $40 a piece, doubt that.

Bock March 11, 2013, 17:43:52

Umphreak – give it up. Geek!

RebelINS00 March 13, 2013, 09:53:21

Yeah I’m not sure about a dwindling fan base at all and $40 for 16 people is not screaming profit but this is cool I think for the most part because you won’t have to deal with people around you. Something tells me that you won’t get burned by somebodies cig or have people talking constantly around you.. essentially insert random annoying concert occurrence ‘here’ and that probably won’t occur with you safely behind the soundboard with nice headphones on

Mike March 15, 2013, 11:48:35

Umphreak you sound ignorant. If you don’t have anything constructive to say keep your mouth shut. This would allow discerning fans to hear what the soundboard is hearing! Some of us fans would really enjoy this peak into the tech side of the show. It was only five years ago umphreys was an opener for moe at red rocks. Now they headline… It will sell out this summer. I also have not been able to buy ticks for their smaller shows in CO because they sell out so fast.

UMDave March 15, 2013, 18:27:58

Ya they are really making a killing on this one! $600 for all that extra trouble for just 16 fans? Umphreak, if you had a job, the $40 to hear unparalleled sound at the show while you’re getting Waful’d sounds very reasonable for an incredibly unique experience. Just stay home next time so nobody steals your money.
