Parliament-Funkadelic keyboardist/composer and longtime Talking Heads collaborator Bernie Worrell has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $25,000 for a 15-seat touring van. The vehicle is needed so that the Bernie Worrell Orchestra can promote their new album, which will be released in 2013. The band has been unable to reach as many cities as they would like to because of their inadequate travel situation, which usually consists of all the musicians, their instruments and gear packed into a few small cars. They would like to be able to play for a larger audience, but they need a new van and a trailer hitch in order to make it feasible.

As an incentive for people to donate, the Bernie Worrell Orchestra is offering a number of goodies like signed CDs, unreleased songs, a Skype session with Worrell himself and an original studio reel from a 1978 Parliamnet recording session. The band also promises to use the power of social media to find out where Worrell’s fans are located so they can better choose which cities and venues to play.
