Quicksilver Messenger Service: Live At The Fillmore to Be Released

A recording of Quicksilver Messenger Service’s June 7, 1968 performance at The Fillmore in San Francisco will be released on April 9. The 2-CD set comes with extensive liner notes by Dave Thompson, which illustrate the historical context of the show. The recording includes versions of Bo Diddley’s “Mona,” Willie Dixon’s “Back Door Man,” as well originals like the psychedelic symphony “Calvary” and a jammy “Acapulco Gold & Silver.” The band’s lineup for the evening consisted of Gary Duncan (guitar/vocals), John Cipollina (guitar), David Freiberg (bass) and Greg Elmore (drums). You can check out the rendition of “Dino’s Song” from the recording here and the full tracklist can be viewed below.

Killer show, has been in circulation for a long, long time. But well worth the purchase if they upped the quality. I believe the tapes may have been part of what wound up on the “Happy Trails” album — a classic psychedelic album for the ages!

If there are items you cannot help but stare at that the models are wearing to go out at night, then see if you cannot pick out pieces of their elements that you can use for later.
