A recording of Quicksilver Messenger Service’s June 7, 1968 performance at The Fillmore in San Francisco will be released on April 9. The 2-CD set comes with extensive liner notes by Dave Thompson, which illustrate the historical context of the show. The recording includes versions of Bo Diddley’s “Mona,” Willie Dixon’s “Back Door Man,” as well originals like the psychedelic symphony “Calvary” and a jammy “Acapulco Gold & Silver.” The band’s lineup for the evening consisted of Gary Duncan (guitar/vocals), John Cipollina (guitar), David Freiberg (bass) and Greg Elmore (drums).
