Carole King, Willie Nelson, and Annie Lennox will receive honorary Doctorate of Music degrees from the esteemed Berklee College of Music. The honor will coincide with Berklee’s commencement on Saturday, May 11 at the Agganis Arena at Boston University. Lennox is also slated to give the college’s commencement speech. On the eve of the ceremony—in line with Berklee tradition—current students will pay tribute to the honorees by performing music associated with their careers, though the concert and ceremony are not open to the public. Past recipients include Duke Ellington (the first, in 1971), Dizzy Gillespie, Smokey Robinson, Steven Tyler, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Bonnie Raitt, George Clinton and Allison Krauss, among others.
