Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk will be honored at the at New Orleans’ Big Easy Awards on April 22. Organized by Gambit Weekly, the Big Easy Awards will award Dumpstaphunk the Ambassador of Entertainment award for their efforts to bring New Orleans music to new audiences worldwide over the past year. The band will also be honored for their charity efforts, particularly relating to Superstorm Sandy relief. (Their HeadCount Tour raised $25K for New York’s most devastated neighborhoods, and Ivan Neville participated in the NOLA Pay It Forward event in November).

Dumpstaphunk recently wrapped-up a string of shows with London Souls at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday. The group performed a number of tracks of their new album Dirty Word and invited London Souls guitarist guitarist Tash Neal out for “Meanwhile” and “Living in a World.”

In other news, Dumpstaphunk will have early copies of Dirty Word available exclusively at JazzFest for their 10th anniversary Gentilly Stage performance on April 27.
