The Del McCoury Band, David Wax Museum, John McCutcheon and the Heritage Blues Quartet are among the acts slated to perform at the American Roots Music Festival at Katonah, NY’s Caramoor Center for Music & the Arts. The celebration will take place on Saturday, June 29. Other acts slated to appear include: The Stray Birds, Doug & Telisha, Spuyten Duyvil and
Walkabout Clearwater Chorus. Del McCoury will use the setting for the world debut of his Del McCoury sings Woody Guthrie show. Like Wilco, Billy Bragg, New Multitudes and several other artists, McCoury is working on a set of new music set to unreleased Guthrie lyrics for an upcoming album.
Nora Guthrie—who lives near Caramoor—specifically asked McCoury to undertake this project, gave him a cache of material from the archives and asked him to bring these songs to life.
At the American Roots Music Festival, music will take place both outside on the estate’s ground as well as in a covered Venetian Tent.
