Photographer Michael Weintrob has announced the New Orleans debut of his signature InstrumentHead portraiture series. The walkable photo exhibit will take place April 25 and May 1 at 2121 Chartres Street, the day before JazzFest kicks off each week. The April 25 exhibition will include performances by DJ Logic and Papa Mali and Friends featuring Robert Mercurio, Eric Bolivar and Eric McFadden. The May 1 exhibition will have live music from DJ Logic, The High and Mighty Brass Band and another surprise guest.

InstrumentHead is a surrealist collection of musician portraits that seeks to represent each artist without showing their faces. The series features photos of musicians like Mickey Hart, Bootsy Collins, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the late Uncle Lionel Baptiste posing with their instruments in front of their heads. 20% of the proceeds from these galas will go to the Tipitina’s Foundation and the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation. This will be the first time Weintrob’s limited edition Giclée prints will be on sale to the general public.
