Numerous guests joined Leftover Salmon during their three-night run at Denver, CO’s Bluebird Theater this weekend. Noted session musician and harmonica player Sugar Blue emerged first, joining Leftover Salmon near the end of their first set Thursday night for “Blues In A Bottle,” “Hold On” and “Oklahoma.” He also sat in with the group for their entire second set.

Sugar Blue returned the following night and sat in with Leftover Salmon during their first set for “Singin’ In The Blues.” He remained onstage as Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin emerged to play saxophone on “Dance On Yer Head,” “Little Red Rooster” and “Better.” Berlin produced Leftover Salmon’s 2012 comeback album Aquatic Hitchhiker. Both Sugar Blue and Berlin returned for Salmon’s entire second set, which notably included the band’s debut cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Miss You” (Sugar Blue played on the original 1978 version of the Stones classic). Greensky Bluegrass guitarist Dave Bruzza also joined in the action at the end of Leftover Salmon’s second set for “Just When You Think It Can’t Get No Better Than This.”

Finally, Berlin returned for an encore appearance on Saturday night. He sat in for “Who Stole My Monkey,” “Tuna Pas Aller,” “Under The Falling Sky,” “Ain’t Gonna Work” and “Euphoria” at the end of Salmon’s first set and returned for the entirety of the ensemble’s second set.

Leftover Salmon will perform at Fort Collins, CO’s Aggie Theatre on April 11.
